The nation of Ramadan fights injustice and tyranny and prevails.
"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month…" (Al-Baqara: 185).
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his companions, and those who follow him. Blessed are we with Ramadan, the month of patience and victory. Blessed is this nation with the arrival of the fasting month, the month of jihad and giving, the month of obedience and patience, the month in which Allah favored His servants by sending down the best of books to them, and honored them with a night better than a thousand months, and bestowed upon them by opening the gates of Paradise and closing the gates of Hell. As reported by Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Ramadan arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained" (narrated by Muslim).
It is the Ramadan of victories and the provision of the mujahideen. Allah extended to His righteous reforming servants great bounties and honorable grants. In it, the believers triumph over themselves, their first battleground; if they conquer it, they become capable of conquering others, and if they fail, they are weaker in facing others.
And indeed, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, triumphed over themselves in the school of Ramadan, and those who followed in their footsteps, men and women of faith, so Allah granted them victory over their enemy, changing the course of history and creating great glories for the nation. The victories of the blessed month are numerous and successive, starting with the Battle of Badr in the second year of Hijrah, the Conquest of Mecca, the Battle of Tabuk, the battles of Qadisiyyah and Buwaib, the Conquest of Rhodes, the Conquest of Andalus, the Battle of the Court of Martyrs, the Conquest of Amorium, Ain Jalut, the Battle of Hattin, up to the battle of the tenth of Ramadan in the year 1393 Hijri (6th October 1973), where the myth of the invincible army was shattered, repeated against the will for liberation and the strength of the Palestinian resistance on the past seventh of October. Historians have recorded more than 185 victories for Muslims in Ramadan.
These victories are achieved – as Imam Al-Banna, may Allah have mercy on him, said; because it is the month of strong will, which begets true freedom, and because it is the month of full spirituality which begets generosity and magnanimity beyond material things. And as said by the second Guide, Counselor Hassan al-Hudaybi, may Allah have mercy on him, in his discourse on the purposes of fasting, its purpose is to elevate the human soul above its desires, preparing it for great deeds, accustoming it to patience and endurance, and proving its greatness and ability to overcome needs and whims.
Should we not keep this meaning in front of our eyes, enter the school of Ramadan to revive in ourselves all meanings of pure worship, rise in faith, and liberate the self from its earthly bonds; to respond to the call of its Lord and attain the honor of this world and the bliss of the hereafter?
How much we all need to review our glorious history in Ramadan and study the biography of the noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his followers in this great month, which witnessed glories and victories that we ask Allah Almighty to enable us to rewrite anew.
Let’s unify our emotions, after our rituals have united us… Palestine is our direction.
In the month of Ramadan, emotions unify as a real fruit of the unity of rituals, and the central issue of the nation (the Palestine issue) becomes manifest in beloved Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, where heroic steadfastness, adherence to principles, clinging to rights, and holding onto the land as if it were one's honor. The brave Palestinian people stand against the world’s tyrannical forces, armed with the strength of faith, enduring hardships and swallowing pain without giving up their religion, homeland, or legitimate right to independence and freedom. If the duty of support is always present for a Muslim towards his Muslim brother in every time and place, it is even more obligatory in the month of Ramadan, and towards Palestine, it is most obligatory, where Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque are in the fiercest confrontation against a brutal and arrogant enemy who respects neither sanctity nor values.
Abstaining from food and drink during the day in Ramadan will not lift the legal discomfort from the fasting person nor will it achieve the goal of performing the duty if he refrains from supporting his brothers or closes the passages and deprives them of food, drink, and medicine, or accepts such closure, prevention, and deprivation, or remains silent about the Zionists who commit this act criminalized by religion, law, and chivalry; in accordance with the saying of the Prophet – peace be upon him – in the hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik – may Allah be pleased with him – he said: “He does not believe in me who sleeps with a full stomach while his neighbor is hungry beside him and he knows about it” (narrated by Al-Tabarani).
Indeed, the true spirit of faith that fasting generates in the souls of the fasting, the connection between their rituals and emotions, between their fasting and their support, between their prayers and their giving, between their standing and their sacrifices, between their remembrance and their vibrant spirit, is what the Zionist occupation fears from them, and its supporters in the world are wary of and prepare for, including those of our kin who bear our names and speak our languages yet are in reality harsher and more severe to us than our enemies.
They all fear Ramadan, anticipate its arrival with apprehension, and fear its spirit that revives the hearts of Muslims, recognizing the impact of Ramadan on the nation and on the mujahideen in the land of Ribat, knowing the history of victory and supremacy that belongs to Muslims in Ramadan.
Fasting in Ramadan without supporting the mujahideen, or comforting the weak or the injured, or feeling the responsibility, is like a body without a soul, a ritual without piety, which will not produce certainty, achieve any return, or reform a soul. Give generously, or face the wrath of Allah, support our brothers, or history will not be merciful if we fail. Let’s gear up for good deeds and show Allah the best of ourselves, hoping to be in a month in which Allah completes His blessing, relieves distress, and grants our mujahideen brothers victory and empowerment.
In you, O Ramadan, I have hopes suspended,
A gloom in the depths has settled.
It is our duty not to forget our brothers in our private prayers and night prayers in Ramadan, and to give them as much of our money as Allah has entrusted us with, to allocate from our resources to meet their needs, not to stop pressuring the rulers of our countries to allow the entry of the food, medicine, and other necessities they need, not to leave the fields of jihad by boycotting the products of our enemies, and to spread the cause with all the strength and means available.
Homes have their doors, and homelands belong to their people, not their oppressors. In our beloved Egypt, the coup authority continues to exacerbate crises and tighten the siege on the Egyptian people—just as they besiege the people of Gaza—alternately through debt, and at other times through the high cost of living and scarcity of goods. This has led to increased poverty rates and expanded the circle of those suffering from hunger, amidst an unprecedented state of freedom suppression, confiscation of political life, loss of social values and economic interests, an increase in the crime rate, and a complete decline in Egypt’s regional and international role; causing it to lose its status as a major player in the region.
Additionally, the corrupt authority continues its shameful series of selling national assets and resources to foreign entities, far from the will or free oversight of the people. Thus, it sells the Ras El Hekma area, which encompasses 50 km of the purest Mediterranean waters, in addition to its strategic and security significance on Egypt’s northwest border, as if it’s a new province being born away from Egypt’s sovereignty. Then it prepares to sell Ras Jamila, covering an area of 860,000 square meters – across from the Strait of Tiran – in the same manner, and paves the way for selling ports and airports, without consulting the people or disclosing the terms and conditions of these sales, posing a serious threat to Egypt’s national security, and squandering and endangering the future of coming generations.
The crimes committed by this authority since it seized power by force following its coup against the legitimate President Dr. Mohamed Morsi (may Allah have mercy on him) in 2013 aim to remove Egypt from the regional and international political equation, and to obstruct and hinder the Egyptian people’s rise; by wasting its resources, confiscating its future and national security, and hindering it from playing its historical role in supporting its brothers in occupied Palestine, and in protecting their security and Egypt's national security.
All honorable Egyptians, with the Muslim Brotherhood at their heart, have always rejected all measures that squander the nation’s resources through corruption and away from the free and active will of Egyptians, and infringe on its sovereignty; as there is no sense or logic in drowning the state in debt chasing illusory achievements laced with corruption, and then turning around to sell land to repay the debts of the corrupt regime, marketing it as a great achievement while Egyptians’ suffering deepens, leaving them even poorer.
It Is”our duty to declare to the whole world that the soil of our homeland is not for sale or to be given away just to preserve the seats of power and the interests of the corrupt, and that the current selling of our nation’s assets does not obligate us as a people and as a nation.
We want to affirm that this homeland has only one owner, the people, the owner of power and wealth, and even if their voice is silenced under the terror of force and the falsification of will; their silence will not last long. One day they will rise up, and their word will be supreme, and they will reclaim the rights that an illegitimate authority has taken from them, and they will protect their resources and wealth from every aggressor and the greedy: “Allah prevails over His affair, but most people do not know” (Yusuf: 21).
In light of these severe economic crises which the citizen suffers from greatly, it is incumbent upon us to elevate the values and meanings of solidarity and cooperation among the brothers of one homeland; as the believers are like a solid structure that supports each other. Let each of us ensure the well-being of our neighbors and loved ones, and preserve our strong social fabric by the grace of Allah Almighty.
We also call upon the esteemed Al-Azhar institution to fulfill its designated role; based on the principles of our noble religion, and drawing from Al-Azhar’s history of supporting peoples; to act and pressure this authority to open the crossings and lift the unjust siege on our brothers in Gaza; for history will not forgive those who have faltered.
The Death Sentences and the Zionist Project
The recent death sentences against the esteemed General Guide of the group, his deputy, and six of the political and advocacy leaders confirm that this authority is persisting in its errant ways, continuing on its path towards a violent confrontation with everyone striving to reform Egypt and save it from the fate to which the coup leader and his accomplices are leading it.
These sentences, which coincide with the Zionist aggressions against our brothers in Palestine and the siege imposed by the authority in Egypt on our brothers in the Gaza Strip, come within a single framework and follow the same path; they represent complete bias towards the Zionist occupation, striking all forces and currents carrying the project of freedom and independence, and striving to confront the Zionist project in the region.
Escaping from this dark era in Egypt’s history, in which all values were violated, norms trampled upon, laws wasted, and principles confiscated, has become an urgent necessity and a priority for everyone loyal to their country and keen on its independent will and restoring its status. This could form a painful blow to the Zionist project, which relies on such regimes to consolidate its existence.
From the Group’s News
“Watan TV,” in collaboration with a number of media and legal institutions, is organizing a virtual conference titled: (No to Unjust Execution Sentences.. Save the Nation’s Men).
The conference focuses on debunking the case and its flaws, the dangers of politicizing execution sentences, and affirming the status and national and Islamic role of those sentenced. The conference also concentrates on societal roles, and the role of legal and international institutions in stopping these wrongful sentences, and emphasizes ways to support detainees and advocate for their causes.
Allahu Akbar, and all praise be to Allah,
Prof. Mahmoud Hussein,
