The Muslim Brotherhood: The Solid Core and the Beacon of Hope

In a pivotal and defining stage of the nation’s history, after its unifying political entity had disintegrated and its countries turned into European colonies, the “Muslim Brotherhood” was established in 1928. It acted as the spirit that moved through the nation’s veins, striving for its reunification, the reclaiming of its capabilities, and the unification of its word around the Book of its Lord and the Sunnah of its Prophet, peace be upon him, and its righteous religious methodology; thus, shaking off the dust of ignorance and backwardness that had settled on it, the weakness that had struck it, and the debility it had suffered.

The rekindling”of hope and the revival of the nation’s spirit to take on its role in guiding creation was the primary mission of the “Muslim Brotherhood,” a responsibility it has borne since its foundation by the martyr Imam Hassan al-Banna (may Allah have mercy on him), who said, “You are a new spirit flowing within this nation, reviving it with the Qur’an."

This great hope could only be realized through a firm will, a vibrant spirit, a relentless determination, and a clearly defined and well-charted methodology; for the gap between reality and aspiration is vast, and the comprehensive Islamic project faces formidable obstacles and is targeted by all the forces of global arrogance with all their means and capabilities.

The group charted Its own course, following in the footsteps of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who brought a religion that does not withdraw from life but engages with it, coloring it with its hue and guiding it with its guidance: “The dye of Allah, and who is better than Allah at dyeing. And we are His worshippers." (Al-Baqarah: 138); thus, mapping the nation’s path in all its steps and in all areas, be it political, economic, social, educational, or faith-based; starting from the saying of Allah Almighty: “Say, ‘Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds * No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims.’” (Al-An’am: 162,163).

With a clear objective in mind, Imam al-Banna pursued his goal with calculated steps and a well-drawn plan; he founded the organization and cared for it meticulously; to be the vessel that preserves the call and the solid core without which the nation’s project cannot stand; for this core to move into society, introducing the Islamic idea and creating a broad supportive current for it.

Today, as the blessed journey approaches its centennial, it continues – by the grace of Allah – with confident steps towards its goals, no matter the challenges faced or obstacles encountered; for its fruits have ripened and spread across the world, and its popular base has expanded. Despite being purely a human effort prone to the errors all humans make, its compass – by the will of Allah – has not deviated from its path, has not neglected its principles, and has not lost hope in achieving its goals; inspired by the saying of Allah Almighty: “Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] in the land as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that – those are the disobedient.” (An-Nur: 55).
