The Muslim Brotherhood group in Syria confirmed that meeting between Syrias MB leaders and Dr. Fathi Yakan is part of meetings the group is holding with Arab and Islamic figures.

Zohair Salem, the spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood group in Syria, confirmed that meeting that took place between Syrias Muslim Brotherhood leaders and the Lebanese scholar, Dr. Fathi Yakan in the Turkish city of Istanbul is part of the meetings that the group is holding with Arab and Islamic figures.

The group said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb, that:The Istanbul meeting with the scholar Fathi Yakan was upon his request and as part of the meetings that the group is usually holding with Arab and Islamic figures; the meeting included discussing the tense situations on the Syrian and Lebanese, Arab and Islamic arenas; there was a consensus over shouldering the Nation with establishing a third project, so that their efforts do not be to the benefit of any other project, whether it is a foreign project or a tyrannical one that feigns rejectionism and resistance while it is offering endless concessions and humiliates its people to make them lose the battle; there was a consensus also over the importance of consultation and coordination among all national powers to fight the common challenges and threats.

The statement pointed out that it is a reaction to press reports about a meeting between sheikh Fathi Yakan and some Syrian Muslim Brotherhood leaders, pointing out that there was no mediation between the Syrian regime and the MB group; Yakan didnnot even discuss the issue; also, the Justice and Development Party in Turkey didnnot have in no way any relation with this meeting.

Dr. Fathi Yakan has recently met the Syrian president to study the latest developments on the Lebanese arena and the consequences of the crisis between the opposition and the government.
