On Monday (September 7), Mansoura Criminal Court headed by Judge Osama Abdel-Zaher will hold a 'final sentencing' hearing for 24 citizens, 10 of whom have already been sentenced to death on July 9, 2015.

The death sentences concern a case known as 'the killing of the guard' lawsuit (number 781 for the year 2014 South Mansoura, Criminal - Supreme State Security). The defendants so sentenced to death are: Khaled Rifaat Askar, Science graduate; Ibrahim Yahya Azab, Pharmacy graduate, Ahmed Waleed Al-Shal, Medicine graduate, Abdel-Rahman Mohamed Attia, Medical student; Bassem Mohsen Al-kheribi, engineer; Ahmed Mahmoud Dabbour, Engineering graduate, Mohamed Adawi, Faculty of Arts student; Ayman Abul-Quomsan, company director; and Mamdouh Mahmoud Wahba, engineering student.

According to accounts of the defendants' families, all those have been subjected to enforced disappearance for several days during which they suffered the most extreme forms of torture, until the interior ministry extracted 'confessions' from some of them in videos posted on the ministry's webpage, and in which they confess crimes they never committed, like killing a Dakahlia Directorate of Security sergeant.

For the "Right to Life" campaign reports on these defendants:
