In a press statement Sunday, Dr Mohamed Ali Bishr, leading member of both Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance – and Minister of Local Development in President Morsi's government, cancelled a meeting with Dr Fouad Abdel-Moneim Riad, chairman of the (July 3, 2013) coup atrocities Fact-Finding Committee (FFC), which was scheduled for Monday (September 15) after FFC breached promises of neutrality and independence.

In a telephone conversation with Justice Omar Marawan, FFC's official spokesman, on Sunday afternoon, Dr Bishr announced the cancellation.

Later, in his statement, Dr Bishr said: "The cancellation is in protest of the political exploitation of FCC communications with us, in which we acted with a sense of national responsibility and good faith, and were unfortunately rewarded with wide politicizing of the issue in junta-controlled media and absurd FFC silence.

"In fact, FFC acted in quite a negative manner with victims' families. It even issued statements in which FFC head Dr Riad revealed his already politicized decision. This led to difficulties in coordinating efforts between human rights operatives and the victims' families on the one hand, and FCC on the other."

Dr Bishr held FFC head Dr Riad responsible for blocking efforts to expose the truth to public opinion, achieve justice and exact fair retribution.
