Pro-Democracy National Alliance Slams Coup Decision Against Muslim Brotherhood
Egypt's nationwide coalition for democratic legitimacy rejects the junta's latest maneuver against the Muslim Brotherhood as a totally illegitimate act.
Monday, April 14,2014 05:02

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance reiterates its rejection of the junta's absurd accusation of the Muslim Brotherhood designating the group as a terrorist organization by an official decree from the military-installed government.

The Alliance affirms that this decision is null and void, based on falsehood, issued by an illegitimate unelected authority, and is also based on an invalid decision by a court evidently stepping out of its jurisdiction.

The legal system does not entitle the government to subject the people to repression and persecution through legal provisions or decisions issued by illegitimate power-grabbing authorities. All citizens, private enterprises and state institutions are accountable to those laws that govern relations between all these parties. Therefore, they need to be issued by the will of the people, through proper legislature, and declared to the people, in full compliance with the Constitution and the rules and standards set forth in international covenants and conventions on human rights, including the separation of powers, participation in decision-making, and avoidance of arbitrariness. All these are not possible under the current transitional coup regime.

Hence, all these unjust laws and decisions will be disposed of with one decision, with the empowerment of the January 25 (2011) Revolution and the will of the people and the people's elected institutions.

With this comic declaration against the Muslim Brotherhood, technocrat heads of the military coup government – who never engaged in politics before – are trying desperately and pitiably to influence international prosecution action against murderous coup leaders – the perpetrators of crimes of genocide. Those technocrats have not learnt anything from the previous ministers and heads of coup governments who preceded them and who have been quickly replaced after they served their intended purposes.

The purposes of the current coup regime are to hedge against future risks posed by patriotic Egyptian revolutionaries, and to delay the moment the people rid themselves of the nightmare perched on the chest of their homeland. However, the repressive measures the putschists keep taking will not succeed in silencing Egyptians or force them to accept the military murderer for president.

The peaceful popular revolt will continue until the January 25 Revolution is back on track; until it achieves its goals; until Egypt is once again on the path of democratic transformation; and until the military regime is ousted completely.
