Pro-Democracy National Alliance Criticizes Saudi Support for Repressive Junta in Egypt
Pro-legitimacy coalition urges Saudi Arabia to show solidarity with the people of Egypt rather than their oppressors, reiterating commitment to peaceful protest until the coup is defeated.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia as the holiest land for all Muslims and the birthplace of Islam, and as a great supporter of all issues important to the Arab and Muslim world, praising the Kingdom's positive positions toward Egypt in the past.

The Alliance is therefore dismayed at the Kingdom's continued support for the traitorous, illegitimate coup, and the murderous military junta which is violating all the people's rights and freedoms, killing in cold blood thousands of unarmed civilians – a junta evidently serving only the goals of foreign powers.

The latest statement from Saudi interior ministry confirmed the Kingdom's financial, political and moral support for the treasonous junta, and even criminalized resistance against the coup and its unjust aggression.

Egypt's National Alliance underlines the following points:

First: Our struggle is for the respect of popular will and Egyptians' rights and freedoms – one of the most noble fights. We will sacrifice selflessly for these objectives. Indeed, the best fight is telling the truth in the court of a despotic general or Sultan who murders civilians, tortures innocent people, violates sanctities, targets and destroys places of worship, eradicates national identity, instigates and feeds sectarian strife, and threatens the entire region.

Second: Our revolt is peaceful. It seeks to achieve the objectives of the January 25 Revolution – development, freedom and social justice – and to activate the gains of democracy in Egypt, so it stands strong and proud, without excluding or marginalizing anyone. Further, we are committed to a policy of non-interference in the affairs of neighboring Arab countries.

Third: We hope and expect that our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and elsewhere will re-assess the situation, with all its aspects, after realizing their earlier error of judgment, and will rightly support the will of the Egyptian people who are endeavoring to defend their freedom and their democratic choices, rather than actively support the repressive military junta regime.
