The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) offers its most sincere condolences to the families of all the dead and injured victims of the Dahshur train crash that killed dozens of Egyptians, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
The FJP affirms that this tragic incident, which has saddened the hearts of all Egyptians, dictates that officials complete the endeavors initiated by Dr. Hisham Qandil (former Prime Minister)’s government to improve rail services, and eliminate prevalent corruption. Reforming the system is expected to take a long time, as these frequent accidents are the product of decades of neglect of this vital facility which primarily serves a broad segment of the ordinary Egyptian people.
The FJP calls for immediate investigations to quickly bring to trial all those involved in or responsible for the incident, so they get the maximum penalties they deserve by law, and not to lay the blame on that old ghost called "human error and individual negligence" as in the past. Indeed, that "negligence" is no longer acceptable, not without radical reform, and certainly not after the January 25 Revolution.
The FJP believes that the whole transport system needs urgent development and modernization whatever the financial cost and effort required, in order to preserve the lives of ordinary citizens who are sadly suffering the consequences of corruption and negligence bequeathed by the Mubarak regime. |
