The Anti-Coup, Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance rejected suggestions by a non-Egyptian Al-Qaeda-affiliated group to "take up arms against the Egyptian army".

The group "The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant", one of the prominent arms of Al-Qaeda, said in a statement Saturday that "the bloody repression of Islamist protesters shows the futility of peaceful means".

In response to the statement, Khaled Hanafi, a leading member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and the National Alliance, told Anatolia News Agency: "We condemn this discourse in its entirety. Our protests are peaceful. Non-violence is our choice, it is not imposed on us".
