Muslim Brotherhood: Mubarak Regime Mobs Leading Attempts to Overthrow Elected President
Brotherhood vows to commit to peaceful response to any violence committed by opposition on June 30 anniversary of President Morsi’s first year in office.
Wednesday, June 26,2013 18:22

In an interview with the Anatolia news agency Wednesday, Rashad Bayoumi, first deputy of the Muslim Brotherhood Chairman, vowed not to meet violence with violence during June 30 demonstrations called by the opposition to supposedly end the rule of elected President Mohamed Morsi for ‘failure in managing the affairs of the country’.

Rashad Bayoumi urged the police to carry out their duties to separate the two sides and prevent clashes, accusing what he described as 'former regime gangs' of leading a campaign of attacks on Morsi in order to restore the situation to what it was before the January 25, 2011 revolution that ousted Mubarak.

Meanwhile, Bayoumi said the Muslim Brotherhood refuses to sit for dialogue under the umbrella of the army, pointing that dialogue should "be under the umbrella of the President".

He stressed that the Brotherhood is "trying as much as possible to clarify the reality to citizens and leave options up to them".

He further said that the first year of the President Morsi’s rule witnessed a remarkable performance in all respects, even though he inherited a heavy legacy left by the previous regime. He also blamed the opposition for the failure in achieving national harmony and unity by its stubborn refusal to make any concessions.
