Sami Abu-Zuhri, spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said Palestinians take pride in their roots and their land, and they will continue to stand by and uphold the right of return of refugees, stressing that there is certainly no intention for resettlement of Palestinians in Sinai as rumored in the media.

In his speech, on behalf of the national and Islamic factions in Gaza, on the 37th Earth Day, Abu-Zuhri pointed that the message of the Palestinian people and national and Islamic forces is "Commit to unity. Resistance is the way. But this resistance must be based on unity. All efforts must continue to achieve Palestinian unity on the basis of resistance to confront the occupier.

"Continuing negotiations proved an evidently unsuccessful approach. We have to take the resistance option because it has been proven – especially after the battle of ‘Stones of Baked Clay’ (Shale Stones) – that the Palestinian people cannot claim any dignity, liberate their land, or confront the occupier’s intransigence except with Palestinian resistance."
