The Muslim Brotherhood and the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) launched their "Together We Build Egypt" campaign Tuesday to mark the second anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution.

Dr. Mustafa Ghoneim, campaign official, said: "The people erupted in revolution in order to topple a tyrannical, despotic regime and to achieve many objectives that we are still endeavoring to accomplish: Bread, Freedom, Social justice. The revolution also aims to replace that repressive corrupt regime with democratic State institutions.

"I call on all sons and daughters of Egypt, who were together as one in the revolution, to start building Egypt – working together again – so this homeland may take its rightful place among the countries of the world, and to provide a great model of civilization-building."

Ghoneim further called on all Egyptians and honorable businessmen as well as all civil institutions to take their place in this wonderful initiative, an epic construction effort, in all areas of life – education, industry, agriculture, housing and many other areas, stressing the need for everyone to contribute.

"The month-long campaign extends until February 22, but is to be followed by other similar initiatives. We have focused our efforts on three major projects, including healthcare for a large number of citizens. They begin with providing service to approximately one million patients during the first month.

"In the first phase, we are also targeting maintenance, restoration, and beautification of about 2000 schools – all public schools in need of this restoration, schools that expressed willingness to participate in the campaign. There is also a project entitled: ‘Easing the burden on Egyptian households’ which focuses on setting big flea-markets with the help of various charitable organizations and major malls, selling goods at wholesale prices."

Dr. Ghoneim continued, adding: "We want to show the whole world another remarkable achievement for Egypt.

"A number of honorable, patriotic businessmen made significant donations to the campaign, such as Taher Kharoub, who donated half a million trees. The Islamic Society is also taking part, providing medical services for free, or at hugely reduced prices. It has expressed its willingness to send free medical convoys into remote provinces.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Muslim Brotherhood Secretary-General, said: "Now, two years after the revolution, some of its objectives have been achieved; but there is still a lot yet to be achieved. The Brotherhood and the FJP, together with patriotic groups and movements are endeavoring to accomplish all these goals.

"Some seem to forget that the former regime did not only corrupt political life, but bequeathed deep-seated, wide-spread corruption that needs our concerted efforts and hard work and that we uphold public interest over all partisan and personal interests, by way of commemorating the January 25 Revolution."

Dr. Hussein further revealed that a report is to be submitted to the campaign supervising committee with continuous evaluations of achievement in each area. He also called on the media to follow up on these projects.

"We celebrate the Revolution’s very important achievements: for the first time, Egypt has an elected civilian president; for the first time, Egypt has a constitution written by the people for the people.

"We are confident that the building of modern Egypt will be accomplished by all its citizens, and not only political forces. We are confident that we will succeed and are able to build Egypt and rise with it in a comprehensive and real renaissance and that we, the Egyptian people, shall put ourselves in our rightful place."

The campaign launch was attended by a large number of Brotherhood and FJP leaders, including businessman Hassan Malik and artist Wagdi Al-Arabi, together with representatives of many civil society organizations. It was also attended by a large number of associations and institutions, with more than 20 representatives of NGO’s.
