The Shura Council (SC) – Egypt’s upper house of parliament –called on world parliaments and the Inter-Parliamentary Union to adopt a firm and resolute stance towards repeated Israeli violations against the Palestinian people.

In a statement, the SC condemned the barbaric Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip that targeted Palestinian civilians. The SC stressed that Israel’s onslaught can only be described as barbaric aggression, a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Furthermore, the SC announced its full support for the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to defend their stolen land and establish their independent state on all Palestinian territory, and pledged to assist and stand with the Palestinian people until their occupied territories are completely liberated.

The SC also affirmed its approval of the decisions taken by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in support of the Palestinian cause and to confront Israeli barbaric attacks against the Palestinian people.
