Dr. Nadia Zachary, Minister of State for Scientific Research, issued directives to all research centers and institutes affiliated to the ministry to present all research and scientific studies concerning the development of Sinai by the end of August. The minister pointed that these studies will be submitted to Dr. Hesham Kandil, Egypt’s new Prime Minister, for use in development projects in Sinai, and that each study will be presented in the name of the researchers who conducted it, and their institution or establishment, so they may oversee implementation on the ground. In a statement to Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday, Ms. Zachary confirmed that the ministry is making every effort to contribute to the rejuvenation and reconstruction of Sinai, in the belief that the employment of scientific research and technology is the best way to speed up and accomplish integrated and comprehensive development of the peninsula. "The research and studies that will be collected will include all disciplines, to achieve optimum utilization of resources and capabilities available in the Sinai, especially energy, oil and gas as well as exploration of mineral wealth. "These will also help to produce and update maps of suitability of different areas of the region to various uses, and to study hazards that may threaten the people and the environment. Those studies will be updated constantly." |
