Sentencing ousted president Mubarak and his interior minister Adli to life in prison, Egyptian judge acquits his sons and six of his police commanders of killing over 850 peaceful protesters in the January 25 revolution that ousted the old corrupt regime, notorious for its brutal repression, despotism and oppression of its own people.

Cairo Criminal Court headed by Justice Ahmed Refaat sentenced to life in prison ousted president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak and his interior minister Habib Al-Adli.

Meanwhile, the court acquitted Major General Hassan Abdel Rahman, head of the notorious, now-dissolved, Security Service apparatus; General Adly Fayed, assistant minister of interior for public security; Major General Ahmed Ramzi, assistant to former minister for central security; Major General Ismail Sha’er, former director of Cairo security; General Osama Almarasi, former director of Giza security; General Omar Faramawi, director of security in “October 6” city; and Hussein Salem, a friend of Mubarak.

For his part, Mukhtar Ashri, Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s Legal Committee, described the verdicts as unreasonable.

"It is legally illogical to sentence Mubarak and Adli to life in prison – which goes to prove that they did give orders to kill – and at the same time acquit their senior officials responsible for implementing those murderous orders on the ground".

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Ashri further expressed bafflement at the court’s decision to acquit Mubarak’s sons, saying: "How can Gamal and Alaa and their business friend Hussein Salem not be tried for all the crimes they committed?"
