Legal Team Coordinator of Khairat Al-Shater's presidential campaign Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, Monday, challenged the Supreme Presidential Electoral Committee (SPEC)'s decision to exclude Al-Shater from the official list of presidential candidates. The Brotherhood lawyer requested the cancellation of the decision due to its evident violation of the law.

Further, Abdel-Maksoud requested that SPEC hold a session for hearing oral pleas and submitting written documents proving the invalidity of the decision.

Moreover, Abdel-Maksoud requested that SPEC issue a decision to accept the challenge in terms of its form and content by cancelling the challenged decision and approving Al-Shater's candidacy forms and papers for presidential elections to be held on May 23-24, 2012, and adding his name to the final candidate list.

For its part, SPEC has arranged for a session to look into the challenge, hear the oral pleas and receive documentary evidence on Monday evening.
