In a meeting at the headquarters of al Wafd Party, representatives of 40 Egyptian parties and political movements forming the Democratic Alliance for Egypt, endorsed the newly formed Syrian National Conference (SNC) as a legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

Dr. Amr Darag, from the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), confirmed that the party supported the Syrian people's aspirations and ambitions for freedom, adding that the party endorsed the people's choice of the Syrian National Council (SNC).

On its part, the Syrian National Council (SNC), welcomed the recognition, which it considered a result of communications with the Egyptian political parties, and sends a positive message that Egypt is  aware of the Syrian's daily suffering.

SNC hoped that this recognition would encourage the military junta to also recognize the council and becoming the second country to do so after Libya's Transitional Council.
