As Friday marks the call for the Million Man March in Cairo urging national unity, the safety of the citizen ‎and support of the Palestinian cause authorities have appealed to influential activists including the Muslim Brotherhood to convince demonstrators to withdraw from marching to Gaza.

Responding to requests, MB in Alexandria announced it would hold a major conference in support of the Palestinian people titled “Together to Support Palestinian Steadfastness” on Friday following noon prayers however it has called on pro-Palestine activists to cancel the rally they planned to hold aimed at setting off the march across the Rafah border into the Gaza Strip.

A campaign had called for rallies Friday and a march toward the border on Sunday, labelling it the “Sunday of Liberation.” The march is intended to mark the 63rd anniversary of the declaration of the State of Israel.

The statement issued Thursday, by authorities called on activists to give priority to internal issues and to prevent any repercussions that might result from this march.

An official statement by Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal has called on the Egyptian activists to put their plans to march through the Rafah crossing into the enclosed Gaza Strip on hold. Warning them of the military confrontation that might ensue with the Israeli occupation forces.

He added he believed advocating the cause by taking a political stance, sending relief aid, and boycotting would be more effective in the time being. He warned them of the military confrontation that might ensue with the Israeli occupation forces.

Finishing his statement Mashal stated that "As a Palestinian resistance movement, we cannot expose Egypt to the burden or to more than it can handle now,” he said. “We cannot call on it to engage in a direct clash or war with the Zionist Entity at the critical stage that Egypt is passing through”.

meshaal should not be trusted pier
I'm sure the "zionist entity" agrees with meshaal and thus with the muslime brotherhood leadership. palestinians have waited 63 years for this march. Gazans can invite whoever they want to, including their brothers and uncles from egypt for a visit. this does not have to be military matter. it should strengthen the Hamas hand in the negociations, I'm surprised Hamas leadership is trying to cool it down. is meshaal forced to show his real face? looks like the "zionist entity" has sent him an secret e-mail telling him to do something and he replied back by saying, "i'm trying, i'm trying".

Mashal's statement Dr John Jennings
This is one of the most ridiculous statement ever made by a Palestinian resistance movement reminiscent of the 'Notables' of the 1920s and 1920s. I challenge Mashal to formulate a workable sustained and effective strategy here and now. If he can't...the grass roots ought to forget about its 'leadership' and just DO SOMETHING....We have outlined the perfectly obvious scenario that is needed see our website, www.palestinianresistance.com
