According to Alaa Abdel Monem, media spokesman of the People’s Parliament, the parliament will announce its founding statement and the initial list of members next Sunday at the Al-Wafd party’s headquarters. Saad Aboud, member of the Founding Committee, stated that they chose to announce their founding statement from Al-Wafd headquarters because it is the house of the nation. He stressed that Al-Sayed Al-Badawy, chairman of Al-Wafd, expressed his approval to announce the parliament’s first statement from there until they decide to host it on a permanent basis.
Ayman Nour, founder of Al-Ghad party, called for having the main headquarters of the parliament at Al-Ghad headquarters downtown, especially after he designed a similar hall to that of the official parliament.
Bakry said: “The People’s Parliament is not a parallel parliament and the aim of founding it is to expose the regime. We are not against the institutional structure of the state.” |
