Fierce competition is taking place between the “independent” and the “change” before the third-renewal election next Friday. The two streams used the case of Councillor Waleed El-Shafei who revealed that the elections were rigged in Badrasheen constituency to get judges to their sides. Both streams want to support El-Shafei. A new crisis has sparked between the two streams regarding the allocation of flats to the judges in a residential project in the 6th October area.

The “change” stream in currently taking control of the club that is being led by Councillor Ahmed El-Zend, while the “independence” stream is led by Councillor Hesham Genena who was competing with El-Zend during the last presidential elections held at the club.

Judicial sources stressed that the recent crisis started when Councillor Mahmoud El-Sherif, the club’s secretary-general and one of the top names on El-Zend’s list, announced that the elections will be waived if Councillor Ashraf Zahran, member of the club’s board of directors and from the independence stream, waived the elections as well.

The source stressed that the crisis is about the allocation of flats to judges in a residential project in the 6th October area which amount to about 1750 flats in Garden Hills compound in 6th October city. Councillor Ahmed El-Zend, president of the club, announced earlier the success of his team in obtaining a contract for 1500 L.E instead of 2500 L.E. per meter.
