Participants include, Roger Cohen, Columnist, The New York Times (Moderator) Reza Aslan, writer and commentator, Martin Indyk, VP for Foreign Policy, Brookings Institution, Joe Klein, Columnist, Time Magazine Professor Marc Lynch, George Washington University Dalia Mogahed, Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies. The debate will discuss one year after President Obama's Cairo speech, and will address the challenges, opportunities and innovations surrounding speculations on issues including the no sign of an Israel-Palestine peace deal, the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, and the ongoing nuclear standoff with Iran, It will also question the stalling of the 'new beginning' initiative's. The debate will also include discussion on the significant role of the Arab-Israeli conflict in widening the gap between communities in the US, Europe and the 'Muslim world' and engage in analyzing the progress on the Middle East front and the improvement of Muslim-West relations. The event will be the first in a series of Global Expert Finder debates from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The conference scheduled to be held Wednesday, 21 July 2010, will begin at 6.30 p.m and will be held at 620 Eighth Avenue , New York
