Hundreds of students have demonstrated in the campus of Cairo University today 21/02/09 where representative of various political forces and movements for MB students and youth of 6th April and Labor Party students and students of Kefaya Movement and many other student movements such as Momken and Haqeen.

Hundreds of students have demonstrated in the campus of Cairo University today 21/02/09 where representative of various political forces and movements for MB students and youth of 6th April and Labor Party students and students of Kefaya Movement and many other student movements such as Momken and Haqeen.

According to students the demonstration was supposed to move outside the university, however the intense security forces presence which reached 100 Central Security vehicle paralysed the move.

Students have demanded the expulsion of university guards seeing that it poses a threat to the independence of universities as it lifted the red cards for students like the ones used in football games, requesting the expulsion of university guards.

Students have stressed the importance of the right to housing for overseas students in the university, condemning the continuous prevention for the students from the university’s residency based on political affiliations.

Students have also called for changing the regulations and giving wider freedom to students in order to carry out their different activities within the university campus.

The demonstration took place in the World Student Day on 21st of February.
