Khaled Mishaal, the head of the Hamas political bureau, called on Monday evening for holding a meeting between his Movement and Fatah to break the ice in order to move towards ending the inter-Palestinian discord, stressing that the Palestinian positions should be in harmony with each other to achieve reconciliation.

In a public meeting in Beirut, Mishaal said that the comprehensive reconciliation should include a national unity government, reforming the security apparatuses in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, rebuilding the PLO and then holding the legislative and presidential elections.

"We want a paper consistent with the Palestinian positions. We released the prisoners we had in Gaza, but there are still hundreds of our brothers detained in the West Bank, but the PA refuses to admit that it is detaining them," the Hamas leader underlined.

He expressed his concern about waiving the right of return, highlighting that this right is an individual right and no one has a mandate to waive it under any circumstances.

Regarding the Palestinian issue in Lebanon, Mishaal underscored that the rejection of resettling Palestinians in Lebanon does not mean to displace them, but they have civil rights which must be respected.

The Hamas leader also called for holding a Palestinian-Lebanese dialog addressing all political, security and legal issues, pointing out that this dialog should be with a unified Palestinian authority in Lebanon because it is not appropriate to export the inter-Palestinian differences to other countries.

Mishaal noted that Hamas will finance water and electricity projects in the Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp in Lebanon in the context of the efforts to rebuild the camp.
