Brotherhood MP Calls On Gov’t to Uncover Investigations Into Pop Singer Murder

Dr. Hamdi Hassan (member of the MB parliamentary bloc) has submitted a query to the Minister of Justice regarding the decision passed by the Prosecutor General Abdul-Majeed Mahmoud to ban the publishing of any information related to the assassination of Lebanese pop singer Suzan Tamim in Dubai.

Dr. Hamdi Hassan (member of the MB parliamentary bloc) has submitted a query to the Minister of Justice regarding the decision passed by the Prosecutor General Abdul-Majeed Mahmoud to ban the publishing of any information related to the assassination of Lebanese pop singer Suzan Tamim in Dubai.

 

Hassan also inquired about the possible involvement of a business tycoon who is a member of Parliament and enjoys immunity.

 

Hassan said that such incidents and their consequences should be open for public scrutiny, like what happened in the case of the man who killed his wife to take her property, which was not met with the same secrecy.  

 

Hassan expressed his concern that certain pressures were exerted upon the Prosecutor General to protect the businessman, making it easier for him to reconsider his reactions, paving the way for his escape, studying certain procedures to protect his own huge investments, or reorganizing the evidence In a way that serves the interests of a specific party, given the massive investments and the billions owned by individuals and banks alike. 

 

Prosecutor General has issues a decision to ban any publication about the current investigations around possible involvement of Egyptian businessmen in the assassination of Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim last month, since there have been reports indicating that a security director of a hotel owned by an Egyptian businessman and MP was involved in the crime.

 

Hassan called for the publication of the investigations as a sort of shield for the case and the prosecutor general’s decision against any pressures that might be exerted by specific parties that aim at hiding the truth.

 

“Publication in this case is a right of the entire people that protects the general system, ensures the principle of equality among all citizens, adds to the government’s  transparency, and increases people’s trust of their country’s judicial system.”
