The Egyptian Minister of Interior Habib Al-Adly decided Thursday to resume the parliamentary elections in two of the suspended constituencies, Al-Manshyah at Alexandria governorate and Dosouq at Kafr El-Sheikh governorate next July 13, Ikhwanweb reporters said.

This will be done with the same procedures of 2005 without allowing more candidates to run for the elections, and without following the rules of the complementary elections.

The decision came three years after the parliamentary elections of 2005; however elections were suspended in these six constituencies due to judicial disputes and electoral contests as well as the intensive popularity of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Parliamentary source said that  there will be no complementary elections because elections were suspended under judicial verdicts and that the Supreme Commission of Elections is legal authority entitled to declare the candidates and supervise the elections according to the political performance law.

Elections in six constituencies were suspended since 2005. These are Dosouq and Kafr El-Sheikh at Kafr El-Sheikh governorate; Al-Manshyah at Alexandria, Itsa at al-Fayoum, Aga at Daqahlya, and Al-Qanater Al-Khairyah at Qalyobiah. Elections are expected to be held within the next few weeks.

Speaker of the PA; Dr. Ahmad Fathi Soror, has called for the swift elections in the suspended constituencies.

Supreme Commission of Elections has officially notified the candidates of Al-Manshyah and Dosouq of the elections date with the same electoral symbols and characters.
